Kovakka / Ivy Gowrd Peera

I use to cook small fish using the same recipe. When it is done using kovakka, it tasted and smells exactly like fish peera. Another vegetarian recipe which can be made when fish is not in your fridge. Good combination along with curd, pickle and a curd chily.

  • Kovakka / Ivy Gowrd -20 no's (Sliced lengthy)
  • Grated coconut-1/2 a coconut
  • Green Chillies-2 chopped
  • Small red onions / shallots-3-5 nos
  • Turmeric-1/4 tbsp
  • Chilly powder-1/4tsp
  • Cocum (kudampuli)-2 small pieces
  • Curry leaves-1 sprig
  • Coconut oil-2tbsp 
  • Grind coconut, shallots to a mixture and trasfer it in to a pottery (meen chatti)
  • Add turmeric powder,chilly powder,cocum,green chillies, kovakka slices and salt 
  • Mix well.
  • Add a little water and a tsp of coconut oil
  • Cover it and cook in low flame.
  • Good combination along with curd, pickle and a curd chily.
